My love of well worn farm wagons dates back to my early childhood. Memories of riding with my Grandpa Ollie to the Cotton Gin, fording the Chattooga River to fertile bottom land that my Great-Great Grandpa cleared right after the Civil War.
This painting brings back those simpler times and comforted me quite a bit while painting it.
The multi-colored trees are the colors a 7 year old would have seen all those years ago. The hill of freshly mown hay frames the wagon which is highlighted in muted blues with Sienna touches here and there.
I love the subject and your story. Your cart is beautifully painted.
